Br Vincent (Michal) Magat, O.P. Br Vincent was born in Galanta, Slovakia and migrated with his family to Australia in 1997. His first contact with the Order was through Fr Kieran Adams, O.P. who was working at Corpus Christi Seminary, Melbourne where Br Vincent spent a year in formation before discerning his vocation to be the Dominicans. He entered the Dominican Novitiate on the Feast of St Thomas Aquinas, 28 January 2002 and made profession on the same day 2003. "I want to join the joys of contemplation to the challenges of apostolic life and outreach; to hopefully behold the glory of God as he reveals himself to the saints and to carry this grace into the active life of saving souls; to follow the example of the great saints of the Order and to find in the life of St Dominic, the scholastic genius of St Thomas Aquinas and the preaching of St Vincent Ferrer a path to God and to life everlasting." Modesty: Talk to Victorian Catholic Students' Association (2 March 2007) "Many an undergraduate, [Bond] argued, comes to the university a ready made moral skeptic or a relativist..." Expected Twist: Vocations Testimony at St Dominic's Parish, East Camberwell (12 November 2006) "I though of priesthood as the greatest cop-out in the world. One mass a day and then just chit-chat with people who love and respect you to fill out the time between the meals." Article (Part I): Reclaiming History through Fiction "...modern historical sagas fail to produce heroes. The main characters they propose to us are often enough more at home in our own century than in their historical setting." Article (Part II): Time is of the Essence "We are well aware what fruits a good character brings ... but we seem to be at a loss when it comes to actually building a good character or impressing the virtues in our children." Homily for the Assumption, Evening Prayer I (2005) "... this life already, as we live it, can be the beginning of our sharing in heaven..." Homily for Blackfriars Priory School (2005) "Vader on the other hand is the man who knows what to do, why he does it and has the power to do so." Novitiate "... the whole person ... is invited to grow..." News items - 30 March 2007 Four Dominican students to receive awards at Melbourne College of Divinity Graduation.
