Br Paul
Rowse, O.P. Br Paul is originally from Manly, NSW. He was involved in the Frassati Circle, a small group of young people discerning their vocations, praying together with the friars. Br Paul received the habit from the 85th successor of St Dominic, Fr Carlos Azpiroz Costa, O.P., on 14 June, 2003 and made first profession on 30 June, 2004. He was also the sub-editor of a satirical and inter-denomination Christian newspaper designed for the homeless, The Soapbox, from 2005-2006. "Sharing the faith I've been given is one of the most important and life-giving things I do. I love talking 'shop' with people who search. Like never before, so many around us need to find the Lord Jesus and be found by him. He alone is to be believed, trusted and loved, for he is the Truth who will never deceive us. So, I joined the Order of Preachers, whose motto is Veritas (Truth), and I've made my own the words of St Thomas Aquinas in that great Eucharistic hymn of his, Adoro Te Devote: "Truth
Himself speaks truly,
else there's nothing true." Procrastination is to blame: Vocations Testimony at St Dominic's Parish, East Camberwell (12 November 2006) Sick to death of reading Hamlet for English and almost in tears over integration for Mathematics, I came to a point where I had to do something about this priesthood thing. Relish what is Right: Talk to Our Lady of Victories' Parish Young Adults Group (24 September 2006) Time after time, [they] ask the curly question... “Why do we need to be confirmed when we're already children of God by Baptism?” O Sons and Daughters: Homily for six30 Holy Hour (Easter 2006) "Music is inseparable from the liturgy and there have been many who have left us with great musical treasures to ensure that when heaven is wedded to earth in the liturgy, we sound aloud what we swear by faith." The Father in Secret: Reflection for Ash Wednesday's Gospel Reading (1 March 2006) "Of what use will be purses of coins emptied, decades of Rosary decades and weeks of forgone lunches.." O Come, O Come Emmanuel: Talk to Frassati Circle (Advent 2005) "The O Antiphons speak to us of the divinity of the one who is to be born for us. He is the one chosen by God to lead his people out of the shadows and images and into the truth ... Let him not delay." Homily for the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Evening Prayer II (2005) "to strike up something of a conversation (principally to avoid their running rampant on my watch), I asked: 'What's the best thing about being in year 4?' " Discernment "We cannot all of us do this on our own; and we're not expected to." Testimony "It's a great blessing for me to be with the Order: "Lord, it is good for us to be here.." (Mt 17:4)."
