13 Feb 2005 Two new novices received. The Order of Preachers in Australia has two more sons. Brother Vivencio Attutubo, (n) O.P. and Brother Victor Chua, (n) O.P. received the white wool of St Dominic at Evening Prayer on Sunday, 13 February 2005 - normally the memorial of Blessed Jordan of Saxony, 2nd Master of the Order. Receiving the new novices was Fr Kevin Saunders, O.P. who is Prior of St Laurence's, North Adelaide S.A. It is in this Priory of the Order that the novices will make their Novitiate under Fr Anthony Walsh, O.P. The Prior asked these two young men: 'What do you seek?', to which they replied 'God's mercy and yours'. The Prior told the newly clothed men that 'I therefore grant to each of you one year of probation for you to experience our customs and for us to test your ways. If it shall please you to live with us and if you manner of living is pleasing to us we shall receive you to profession; Otherwise, both we and you will be free to go our separate ways. Pledge yourselves, therefore, to bear this yoke willingly for the love of God and obey your Master in all things, as you would obey me.' Thus they were entrusted to the Master of Novices and began their novitiate year. ![]() Hanging on the Prior's every word ![]() What do you seek? God's mercy and yours |
